Name That Kindle
Okay all you hoopy froods, I have an Amazon Kindle.  It for all the galaxy reminds me of the description of The Guide and serves much the same functions.  But despite having read everything by DNA many, many times, I cannot for the life of me come with a name for it.  My Creative Zen Vision M, mp3 player, I have named "Electric Monk".

Any Suggestions?

a panic-reducing wallpaper
So I found this poster for the good ole 2005 Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy film, and desperately wanted a wallpaper version. So I gave it flying-nun-eqsue wings of navy on either side and stuck it on my desktop... but alas! The poster's colours were a little dull, and the portrait thing wasn't kind of working in a widescreen sense... so I hit the revamp button:

The Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy

My original post.

ETA: Sorry everyone, I obviously linked it wrong, it's all working fine now!

ETA 2: I lie. Photobucket is pulling some ridiculous stunt... I can't use thumbnail or direct links, they always direct me to the 320px thumb, so It's now linked to my Deviant Art post, click download on the left for full res.

Sentimental Fool
Maybe I'm a fanatic, but it fills me with joy whenever the number 42 (along with its associated question) is mentioned in popular media. At first it angered me that his words were being spread without acknowledgement, but just now, I was watching episode 13 of season 4 of Stargate: Atlantis, and when Sheppard recites off McKay's password, I was filled with gladness, because even though DNA may no longer be with us, he will forever live on in that number. ♥

my 2 loves!
Yesterday bought a jersey of FC Porto, my favourite soccer club, and seeing that you can put "your name" and any number you choose on it, I did this...

...and now I have the most perfect soccer jersey in the world!

i need help regarding a date (of the non-romantic type)
whilst recently going through one of my hard drives which i havn't really looked at for years, i discovered the books in audio-book format as read/narrated by Douglas Adams himself.

the thing i'm curious about is that i cant seem to work out which year they were recorded. i've checked the file-tags and they reveal nothing and i've tried to Google around but have had no luck there either.

the only clue i have is that they were issued by a company called Dove Audio but in terms of the tape or LP covers i have no clue.

if anyone could help enlighten me or point me in the right direction i would greatly appreciate it, thanks.

So, come on, then. We're Douglas Adams fans, allegedly, so who's heard about Dirk Gently's new radio series? I for one am looking forward to this, it might breathe at least a little life into an otherwise almost totally dead fandom. [BBC Press Office]

Thank you for making a simple door very happy
Like you do, I googled Marvin just now. The first entry is for a company called Marvin windows and doors, whose website plays godawful cheesy music at you, and who have this to say:

They also have a section on doors. Marvin didn't like doors. "You watch this door. it's about to open again. I can tell by the intolerable air of smugness it suddenly generates."

Happy Towel Day
... hope you didn't forget yours?

This year for Towel Day I have the chance to do something *really* awesome. Next week I start my first ever radio show. For towel day, I plan on doing a show dedicated to Douglas Adams.

But, I need help. What should I play?? I know DNA liked Pink Floyd and the Beach Boys, but were there any songs in general? I also know Procol Harum's Grand Hotel helped him write The Restaurant At The End Of The Universe. I also plan on playing a song or two from the movie. And, I'd like to play a snippet from the audio books. Frankly, I think having Douglas Adams reading about towels would be awesome to put on the show.

So, fellow Hitchhikers, what on earth should I play?!? And, does anyone know if any musicians wrote any songs about him? Those would be nice to include too...

Thanks in advance!
